The NEW E70 Cough Assist (T70 in USA)
What all of us current cough assist users have been waiting for! Tell your doctor you need a prescription.
This machine is an SMA "MUST HAVE!!!"
CoughAssist Mechanical Insufflator-Exsufflator CoughAssist is a noninvasive therapy that safely and consistently removes secretions in patients with an ineffective ability to cough
Ventilator or BiPaP Machine
Most SMA patients begin to have breathing difficulties at some point. Type 1's usually see these problems far earlier than the other types. Some kids are able to BiPaP at nighttime only, others may need it 24/7. Some families may choose to stay "non-invasive" and others may choose to trach their child which would be considered "invasive" ventilation. Either way is absolutely a personal choice! There are many successful families both ways. Do your homework and decide whats best for your family! We support you no matter what!
Philips Respironics has a new accessory to the Trilogy ventilator: "Oximetry Interface Kit"
Pulse ox cord with the Oximetry Interface Kit, hooks to Masimo Pulse ox probes, and plugs straight into the Trilogy Ventilator; eliminating an extra pulse ox machine! (FYI: We tried ours today and though very cool, there currently is NO alarm limit capability for the heart rate, that was important to us so we will not be using the kit as of now until Philips comes out with a software upgrade. According to the Philips Rep today, "We know. It's on our engineers To-Do List! Please send in letters, testimonials, and suggestions to speed the process!")
LTV Series Vents
This is yet another type of ventilator series commonly used. Your doctor may recommend something different for your child. They all have their pros and cons! Carter actually uses the Trilogy 100 as Bipap in S/T mode but it has 9 different modes and even if trached you can use the same machine in a different mode.
This is another extremely important machine! It will read your childs oxygen saturations, heart rate, and sometimes respiratory rate and carbon dioxide levels. There are tons of these machines available of all different kinds, specs, and sizes. Carter uses the "Masimo RAD 8." (This one does not read respiratory rate or CO2 levels) Take this with you at ALL times or keep your child on it at all times if necessary.
This alarm can help prevent the overflow of your feeding syringe.
This a feeding pump for when you have a GTube or NG tube and your child needs the majority of their nutrition other than orally.
NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT IT!
This is a commonly used portable suction that you will use to suction secretions from your childs mouth, throat, nose, trach, etc. It will be your best friend in clearing your childs airway after coughing them to pull secretions up!
"The Vest" by Hill Rom
The Vest® Airway Clearance System is designed to assist patients in the mobilization of retained secretions that, if not removed, may lead to increased rates of respiratory infection, hospitalization, and reduced lung function.
We use it everyday at every treatment to break up secretions so they can be suctioned out. We actually use the "VEST" on Landon but the
"WRAP" on Carter.
